Approvals and notification of well operations
The operator must, prior to commencement of a well operation, ensure that a risk assessment has been prepared to assesses the risk of accidental release of substances and materials (oil, gas or H2S) that may lead to a major accident.
If the risk assessment shows that there is a risk of release that may lead to a major accident, the operator must apply for approval from the Danish Working Environment Authority pursuant to section 28 a of the Offshore Safety Act prior to commencement of the well operation.
To obtain the Danish Working Environment Authority's approval for the well operation, the operator must submit a completed application at least 6 weeks before the start of the operation. We have prepared a form to help ensure that the required information is submitted to us.
You can find the application form here
Significant changes
In the event of significant changes to the approved well operation, the operator must submit a description of the changes for approval before operations can continue.
Notification of well operation
A well operation that does not entail the risk of accidental release of substances and materials that could lead to a major accident, does not need to be approved. However it must be notified to the Danish Working Environment Authority by the operator pursuant to section 28 b of the Offshore Safety Act.
The risk assessment of a well operation therefore decides if the well operation needs to be approved by the Danish Working Environment Authority.
